When you lie with Republican dogs, expect to get bitten by fleas.

Old Keyboard New Mouse
April 11, 2009 at 5:36 pm | Posted in Macintosh | Leave a commentI was sick with some kind of bug last Friday, so I decided to do some cleaning – of my keyboard. I bought my first Mac 20 years ago this month – it was an SE/30 setup for well over $3000. The only component of that setup I’m still using today is the Apple Extended Keyboard – probably one of the best keyboards ever made. It is currently connected to my 24-inch Intel iMac with a USB-ADB adapter – no drivers needed. Here are the instructions for cleaning this keyboard. After clearing out 20 years of grime, dirt, hair and food, the keyboard is finally presentable to the world:
One disadvantage of this keyboard is that it’s so large that right-handed users have to move their forearms well to the right in order to use a traditional mouse which contributes to repetitive stress injuries. This problem is solved by using my iPod Touch as a mouse using the AirMouse ($6). It’s an excellent piece of software, using either the accelerometer or touchscreen to move the pointer and offering various onscreen interfaces – media player, trackpad, or keyboard.
