Adapt or Die

Even though a lot of corporate America has been given “training” on statistical concepts such as TQM and Six Sigma, many are still unfamiliar and uncomfortable with the emergence of probabilistic systems and the tradeoff between local and global optimization.

Maybe this Long Tail article will help, but given personal experiences this year, I don’t have much faith that such approaches will overcome ingrained habits and fears. I’m afraid that 2006 will bring about even more accelerating changes and those who resist will be swept aside or run over.

On that bright note, I wish both my readers a Happy New Year 🙂
