Prozac Nation

Further government intrusion into people’s lives continue. Mandatory mental health screenings and increased drug usage is being planned by the Department of Health and Human Services.

This is pure Republican hypocrisy, as this plan is tantamount to socialized health care — people may be forced to buy medication they don’t need, at taxpayer expense. The tin-foil-hat crowd among us will, with some justification, claim that this is an outrageous effort to not only enrich pharmaceutical companies, but to medicate the population into submission.

Overall, an excellent news article to accompany the lyrics to one of my favorite songs:

I have faith in medication
I believe in the Prozac Nation
You play doctor, but I’ve lost patience
But this is where it ends
This is where it ends
Call the police and call the press
But please, dear God, don’t tell my friends
This is where it ends
This is where it ends
