Sig Pro Weekend

Last week, I took delivery of a handgun – the SIG Pro chambered in 9mm (model SP2009). In two shooting sessions over the weekend, I fired off about 440 rounds. Unlike Glocks, the Sig is closer to a Beretta in the sense that it is more particular about the ammo – it did not like remanufactured rounds, often jamming once or twice per magazine load.

Having purchased it for target shooting, I was surprised at my improvement over the course of 150 rounds, ending with the target on the right (target was 10 yards away).

I used many types of ammo – full metal jackets, hollowpoint, wadcutters, and lead-free fragmentation rounds used for home defense. I hope that it is still being broken in and eventually be made to work with remanufactured ammo which is about 30% cheaper than name brands.

Living in one of the stricter gun control states, additional expenses included a gun safe, a traveling container, and a handgun safety course. I believe that reasonable handgun regulations is perfectly legal and should be tailored to the local culture and conditions.
