Pixar Disses Disney

Any hope of a reconciliation between Pixar and Disney after the cancellation of their talks last week has been dashed by comments made by Pixar and Apple CEO Steve Jobs.Last week, Wall Street analyst Patrick McKeigue thought the Pixar-Disney spat was just a negotiating tactic. Today, Disney spokesperson Zenia Mucha expressed disappointment, saying that they “expected better” from Jobs. As usual, those outside the computer industry have forgotten to familiarize themselves with the “mercurial nature” of Steve Jobs. They only do so at their peril.Regardless of the tone of the article, Jobs is right – Disney is a spent force that can only be revitalized by major changes at the top and a major reorganization and realignment of its core businesses, if Eisner can figure it out in time.
