Hubble Neglect

The NASA head shed has decided to cancel the next Servicing Mission to the Hubble Space Telescope. It can be argued that the HST has given us much more useful information than the Space Station. It is disappointing when we’re spending $80 billion in both Iraq and NASA and somehow cannot find $40 million (0.05%) out of that amount to continue a useful program, even though there are future space telescopes on the horizon (which, IMHO, may never launch due to the new emphasis on manned space flight).Hasn’t NASA ever heard of redundancy and backup systems? The HST makes an excellent backup space telescope. Don’t throw it away.
